The Hammond-Harwood House is an outstanding example of Colonial American Architecture. Built in 1774 as an urban villa for Matthias Hammond, planter, legislator and patriot. Designed by one of America's first architect's William Buckland and said to be "one of the finest medium sized houses of the world".
